at some point, Dawg set the system to so that you get all the medals with 2 or 3 reps- that change that was made a several months ago. It makes the medals worthless, which was the intent, I suspect

I see what you're saying, but the dilemma is that the regulars here that post and rep each other frequently build an immense amount of rep power and if we see some new guy that makes a funny post that deserves some credit, one rep blast from anyone of us will give them full rep colors.

One of the forums I used to frequent actually gave the members the ability to gauge the rep they gave, so for a post from a noob that makes you laugh, you can hand out a hand full of points instead of the massive rep blast.

I've turned my reps into fabulous gifts. I've received vacations, gift baskets and even a new car. I like the rep system

The whole thing is it's caused 3 major fights on the boards so after the last one Dawg stated the Rep system is what it is. They are done fucking around with it because as soon as you address one complaint it generates 4 others. The guys have said they will no longer tweak rep. The problem is exactly what HS cult leader points out. Over time you give hella reps per plus. It's only a fun lil side program that most only care about the instant private feedback it allows. You can always PM your thoughts but the reps feature makes it a lot easier on both the sender and the receiver.

yeah, but nothing good enough to post. I'm waiting to hear back from a few people I sent some ideas to. I usually end up tossing 4 out of 5 I write up because I don't like how they turn out in the end.

I'm new, but it seems to me the real point (and fun) of it is in giving people shitpiles anyway. Especially with this sudden influx of SFN mults/trolls...
