    Jewel's bullshit story

She is still perpetuating the same BS:

    "Homeless, sleeping in a van"
Her pop was a hippie who chose to "live off the grid" for a while... then Jewel, an able-bodied youngin, chose to not work and become a liberal, non-working hippie. And look at her... how often do you think she had to sleep in a van? No boyfriends/girlfriends/friends?

"Almost died/turned down by a hospital for lack of insurance/being poor"
I don't know, I only got insurance a few years a go and had been to the hospital a dozen times before that with no problem. Where in America does a hospital turn you away if seriously ill?

    Would still bang.

Jewel: "My boyfriends had a trust fund, he was okay"
Howard: "Couldn't you sleep at his house/didn't he invite you over?"
Jewel: "Er, uh, der, uh, derp. I was too proud. Uh, yeah."

I don't know exactly when the law was passed, but it is illegal for a hospital to turn someone down due to having/not having insurance. I am thinking this may have stemmed from the Aids Epidemic of the 80s but not sure. So this could very well be B.S.

No hospital in the country will turn away anyone who comes into the emergency room and that is the problem. Go into any emergency room today and you will find that it will be full of illegals using the hell out of it because they know they will never have to pay a single penny for their care.

Surprisingly, there is truth to these posts!

Jewel is an duplicitous, opportunistic piece of shit poser. She probably figured she'd need some street cred if she wanted to become famous singing her shit songs so she slept in a van for a couple of nights. I've passed out in vans too - does that make me a Grammy Nominated folksinger?

And yes, the emergency room cannot turn anyone away and that is why people frequently use the ER as free/urgent care. Even though stupid people cannot comprehend this, Obamacare will actually redistribute the burden away from hardworking business owners like myself and back onto people who currently abuse the ER.

Morons think redistribution and socialism are wrong. Look at Fake Stutter Sheany - he's a TeaTard on socialistic relief.

there is no law that requires an ER room to accept all cases regardless of their ability to pay for services. an ER room can turn away people if they are full up, and they can turn away people unable to pay if the hospital does not accept federal aid. it happens quite often in NYC: on any given evening one or more of the major hospitals is refusing ambulances because they are overwhelmed and emergencies are redirected to other facilities.

Morons don't see socialism fail everywhere it's tried. It ends the moment you run out of other people's money. And that's when the violence starts. Greece, anyone? Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, anyone?

You are right. If they do not accept federal aid aka Medicare they can turn you away but if they do accept fed aid they cannot. The law was passed in 1986.

Greece has so many unassociated issues currently that it's difficult to attach any of them to each other: they ran out of money. the govt instituted severe austerity changes. the local people angry about the cutbacks voted in a neo-nazi party because their party name sounded positive. the new ruling neo-nazi party goes out at night beating minorities, religious organizations, and teens and the police refuse to intercede because the govt backs the neo-nazi terrorists.

i'm not sure any of this is due to a failure of socialism. more likely it's the result of very stupid and uninformed people voting.

one of the biggest complaints i hear from my paramed friends here is that every night they will get redirected while in route because one or more ER rooms just has no available room or staff. it is unfortunately completely normal for them to be rerouted to a completely different borough, especially since Hurricane Sandy put so many facilities out of commission from flooding.

That is Socialism. Stupid and uninformed voters thinking the government can provide everything in life without cost. It's a ponzi scheme from the get go.

A friend of mine had his jaw broken and was turned down because of no insurance. Dr. Straight up told him, "I don't work for free."

I thought thy was illegal, Hippocratic oath and whatnot, but it happened.

    Would still bang.

Totally agree. She said she was in the parking lot of the hospital 'literally dying' and they wouldn't help her.

If they let someone die in the parking lot of a hospital while refusing to treat them it would be a major lawsuit.

    but... I'd still totally bang.

A doctor or hospital? Of course many private doctors won't work for free. But if he was turned down at a hospital for anything other than overcrowding/staffing, then that sucks.

He said something like, "The president is like the dad of the country and we should listen to him"

For some reason, people with Leftist beliefs need an overseer. People on the right want less oversight. If we can't agree on the fundamentals of government, we're screwed.

I already commented on your post, Newc, but Greece didn't magically run out of money. The Nazi's (also socialists) didn't invade them again and rob their treasury. They spent it all on socialist government programs. Maybe you're willing to give Greece a pass, but all of Western Europe is in the same financial situation - maybe 5-10 years behind depending on the country.
