i went to school with a chick from brunei.

she was chinese with a british accent. she loved the place and was heading back as soon as school was over.

it's a peaceful place. they killed off most of the commies a few decades back.

there are historical trading ports initially established by Chinese or Indians all throughout the South China Sea rim, but many left China during the cultural revolution to those parts for humanitarian reasons.

the chinese are the merchants of the orient. i've been to a few east asian countries and each had a large chinese minority. they were often business owners and well off. they were resented highly.

chinese by a far extent,

although singapore has adopted by indian and chinese (as well as malay and english) as national languages to reflect its population and historical establishments; dubai is like india, as it was used as an indian port. used is the right word.

you're right, there are chinese areas in the entire area - from indonesia, malaysia, right up to laos, cambodia, etc. local trade remains active and the ¥ RMB has become a preferred reserve currency.

there are more people in my neighborhood on a Sat evening, than in the whole country of Brunei (and the crown prince of Brunei looks a lot like the guy who delivered my chinese food last night)
