Tea Party vs. Neocons...who ya got?

Lotta talk about Karl Roves' tea party attack. I'm rooting for the tea party. Their cost cutting measures could be effective when compromised with the Dems. They just need to cut their ties with religious inspired social issues and neocon foreign policy and they might be a viable party.

The tea party has basically cost the republicans 5 senate seats and kept Harry Reid in power. The neo-cons basically created the tea party movement through aggrandization and run of the mill fear mongering on fox news and talk radio. The neo cons misread the tea party's success in 2010 as a revolution that would continue. They also were able to integrate the tea party into Rove's "base" that he claimed could always win elections. The problem now is that the tea party sees itself as separate from the establishment republicans, and believes it wields power.

The two problems with the tea party are the lack of an actual leader and the lack of organization/funding beyond establishment republican super-PACs. For this reason the term "tea party" will be phased out and the neo con message will be tweaked to make middle income Hispanics more likely to vote republican.

I've never met or heard of somebody referring to themselves as a neo-con (outside a few talking head wonks Kristol etc.). How many people do you think would show up to a neo-con march on Washington? My guess would be slightly above or equal to zero. So I don't think they will out last the tea party.

Democrats have taken over neo-con foreign policy anyways...and it will hurt them the same way it hurt the GOP. Maybe not by increasing the (R) vote, but what is more likely is a splintering of the party where they turn to 3rd parties, Green, Occupy, Pink Mafia yadda yadda yadda...

That's a good analysis but I see tea party members as far too entrenched to align with a tweaked neocon message.

The tea party is a construct of the Koch brothers and just another money making venture by the conservative con machine.

We'll just have to see if the "tea party" gets funding or the same level of fox/msnbc coverage in 2014. My bet is once the adults (neo cons) cut the funds, most of the current tea party congressman/Rand Paul will change their message, loose their primary to a more funded candidate, or loose to a dem. I don't believe the tea party was at all grass roots, it was just a mobilization of the most conservative 20% of the country.

Of course no one calls themselves a neo-con, but they are still calling the shots for the republican party. If the tea party thinks they are here to stay, they will have to bow down to the money or leave. Alternate theory is that the tea party comes back for one last hoorah in 2014, then they get a candidate for president in 2016 and get their ass handed to them in a fashion that makes Mitt Romney's loss look like Rocky Balboa in 1977 and 2006.

Neo-cons are chickenhawks who pissed their pants and made out with dudes to get out of service, and Tea Partiers when they aren't blowing their feet, balls or their child's head off while "being responsible" occasionally hit a moving target so yeah I take the tea baggers here.

Remember when Rush Limpballs was selling his own brand of Iced Tea at ridiculous prices? Or the company that made "Freedom Ketchup" or some such shit at 5 dollars a bottle so you could boycott Heinz because of John Kerry?

For all their bragging about how smart they are about finance, "conservatives" really aren't that bright when it comes to not falling for scams.

The Kochs get singled out too much.

Name someone who contributes huge sums to political organizations and isn't batshit insane...

I think Cato Unbound is something everyone will benefit from reading.

I'll admit to ignorance; I thought the so called Tea Party was nothing more than new packaging for Neo-Cons, or maybe a sort of "BrownShirt" shock troop in waiting??? What is the difference in the two groups? Serious question.

Neocons went to college, for the most part the tea party members are morons who fuck their relatives.

Nah, Tea Party doesn't seem to care about the war, in fact a lot of them take the Ron Paul view that we should not be over there, but at the end of the day they don't really say shit one way or another, and if you're going to bitch about spending in this country, you have to at least talk about the military and what we wasted over there. They won't, they think it's all taxes and socialism and welfare.

Neo-cons love war and making money off of it, they love the status quo of big money and no bid contracts that benefit guys like Cheney....they also loved that the tea party threw votes to the GOP in 2010 and gave them back the House, but now they can't control the monster they created, hence KKKarl deciding to try and kill them.

Also, a number of tea party groups were bought and paid for by the health insurance lobby until they got a "seat at the table" and killed single payer, Medicare for all, etc....as soon as Obama let them into the talks they stopped funding the Astroturfers and Tea Baggers. As I said, "conservatives" get scammed easy.

I started out intrigued by the Teaparty, but quickly noticed the ones around my hicktown seem to just be ignorant and hate-filled rednecks. I never liked the Neo-Cons, going way way back to before they were called Neo-Cons.

FWIW, I pretty much believe that the war-profiteers have run this country since the late 50's, and have gained power and money ENORMOUSLY since the Reagan years..... They will never ever give that up, and we will always, always. be at war with someone, even our own people eventually. ExxonMobile is second in command, along with the banks, and it really doesn't matter which party is in DC, but the NeoCons accelerate the problem much faster. But that's all just my crazy libtard speculation.
