Artie Lange The NFL Needs a Gay Jackie Robinson

Artie Lange says he WASN'T shocked by Chris Culliver's homophobic remarks during his explosive pre-Super Bowl interview with the 49ers player ... 'cause Chris' anti-gay feelings are probably shared by 99% of the NFL.

FYI -- Lange was the man who interviewed Culliver during Super Bowl week ... and is responsible for releasing the footage of Chris saying gay players are NOT welcome in the team's locker room.

"I hope he learns from it," Lange said after he arrived at JFK ... "and I hope I'm responsible for breaking the gay barrier in the NFL."

Lange says he hopes NFL players will become more tolerant of gay players ... but he doesn't think that will happen until an active gay player comes out of the closet.

I think unfortunately what Culliver said reflects what 99 % of the league thinks," Lange says.

"What's gonna have to happen is a real star player ... a Jackie Robinson type ... a real star player is gonna have to come out WHILE HE'S PLAYING ... and other people will follow."

As for Culliver, the 49ers have announced he'll undergo sensitivity training with an LGBT organization.

he was trying to be offensive as possible to hurt them. i play by that rule also. when you want to fuck with someone, there is no line. destroy them.

when it boiled down, artie was very receptive to george and gays.

Yep, one in the same. And he has the unmitigated gall to criticize a football player who, while making some ridiculous statements about how gay people should stay in the closet, had a legitimate concern about showers.

I've been in locker rooms and I swear to you, on my honor, I do not troll the locker room, lookin' to check out guys. Having been gay bashed on more than one occasion, I'm not looking for trouble. I get in, change and get out.

With all the money the NFL has, they can't convert the existing community shower into private showers? Why does a locker room have to be a naked free-for-all?

Hell, even Sal Governale has admitted to being a checker-pecker in the locker room.

Usually you hold back the big guns for when someone has caused real damage to you; you know, crossed a line? Artie seemed to find "that line" on an hourly basis. Fag this, fag that, even when he wasn't fighting with someone.

And someone should tell Artie that the LGBT community doesn't need a Jackie Robinson (but it would be great).

What we really need (right now) is for assholes LIKE HIM to stop using the word fag every ten fucking minutes on the air.

Asshole's telling us what we need and what we really need is less people like him.
