It was one of Lindsay's businesses and failed because parents were put-off by the ugly photos that came out. Lindsay blamed it on the ugly kids. ("Let 'Em Eat Cake")

I'm guessing Beth wants to have a biological kid, and Howard can afford the best fertility clinics. Why does everyone assume she wants to adopt a black kid? I still think Artie will be dead on with Howard having a 7 ft tall, blonde Slavic looking son.
