New Alice in Chains > New Soundgarden

Can't wait for the new album:

Not worth the wait. Oh, but it is "catchy"

Back when they had it (Badmotorfinger days):

It's just not the same without Layne

It's not Alice in Chains without Staley. That's like Queen without Freddie Mercury.

I agree. But neither can hold a candle to what they once were and I've completely lost interest.

The new Sublime definitely doesn't do it for me, for lack of a better example.
Is it wrong to think why could it not have been Chris instead of Layne?

I used to think the same way until I got Degradation Trip Volumes 1 & 2. That album changed my mind.Jerry is a big part of AIC. I'm glad he is carrying on.

I miss Layne, too, but I think Cantrell is way under-appreciated, and I still love their sound more than 99% of what's popular.

Jerry harmonized with a lot of the vocals with Layne. It is why the new stuff has the familiar AIC sound.

Yeah, his voice was all over the albums. But Layne had the perfect voice for that music.

    They did have great harmonies.

For some reason, right or wrong, AIC has always seemed like direct descendants of Ozzy era Black Sabbath, mah faavorite. Fat, heavy, plodding, grungy and dirge like, with passionate, thick, multitracked vocals...me likee
