The best players come to the US to play either American football or baseball. Particularly with baseball you'll find a lot of non-US players.
Maybe that's how it's called "World Championship."
Because if some other nation held a "championship" with stuff and another country wanted to challenge it, it would. But as we see with Japanese baseball players who are the best in their country, they still can't compete (not consistently) at a "world" level.
Otherwise Japan would not have limitations on foreign players (which MLB does not). Nor would Canadian football have limitations on foreign players (which the NFL does not).
So there.

I think the term "world champions" means you're the best in the world at your game. If nobody else attempts to play you that's not your fault.

the englishman does have a point.
irks me a bit to have a "world champion' but doesnt defend the title or earn it from international competition.
If you're going to play the "smug Brit who's "above" American things" card, at least come up with an original thought.
He's not funny and he's not a thinker; I'm not exactly sure what he's supposed to be or who's supposed to care.
Was he actually some kind of deal in the UK?

Right, FIFA/Soccer is so much more legitimate at crowning a champion...Criminal organizations have infiltrated the highest levels of European and international soccer, threatening the very integrity of the sport, global law enforcement officials said on Monday as they unveiled the results of a 19-month investigation that showed hundreds of people involved in match-fixing.
