Does Howard actually still think the show is funny?

I tried listening to the last hour or so of the Stern show last week, just to see if it was worth trying again, and it wasn't. The monologue jokes are just fucking awful, there is no good in studio banter, Hank is probably laughing at how pitiful Howard has become whereever he's at. The thing I can't figure out, though, is whether Howard actually think's he's being funny? It seems like he does, but I just can't believe it. Then again, I'm not sure he's cunning enough to put up that good of a front and think to himself "Watch as I piss on my fans, and rub their noses in it as I pretend the show is good!".

So, for the poll, I just wondered which people think it is.

I think when he goes to therapy the fact that the show really sucks now is one of his topics of discussion. This probably right behind pathological talks that he is blissfully in love with his trophy wife; she is not just with him for the money and attention. This is why he always mentions being really angry after sessions with his shrink because it's when the truth comes out.

But, I also think someone probably Buchwald, has gotten to him advising him to boast about how much effort they are putting into the show and how his staff needs to put more time into the channels.

It's been a trainwreck since 2008, and I completely stopped listening in 2010. So, I only know of your references what I read here.

This is my answer but when you think about the actual solution of making the show funny again (3rd chair, comedian sitting in, unregulated talk) is simple and right at his finger tips so it's easy to believe that he's stuck behind his bubble still.

If Howard doesn't know the show sucks everyone around him does.

I'm of the opinion that he knows it's not funny, but he doesn't have it in him to be funny anymore. he bought the hype about himself for too long and didn't fully appreciate the contributions of jackie, Artie, sj, KC ect.

and he's become too successful to have the hunger and drive that sparks creativity.

I think he feels the show has evolved to a more serious platform. He thinks his interviews with d-list stars of the 90's are riveting radio and that his "takes" on pop culture are must hear opinions that other broadcasters will inevitably "steal" from him.
