Artie's great. Call me crazy but I still think he's not on sauce. There's just no fucking way that DirectTV would give Artie a show of his own and do all these things for him if he didn't do a blood drug test.

He was high as a kite on a couple of shows when Nick was still there (this was documented several times) but he's been straight ever since Nick got the boot. I'm sure they read him the riot act before giving him his own show . Ill bet he has to submit to regular urine testing too..it's all just a matter if time before he falls off the wagon though, it always ends badly for Artie, said so himself.,

Even 4 years ago, Joe Buck said he was in on it and expected to be roasted. I don't believe him, but...

That was a significant moment in Stern show history, as it was clear Artie was totally out of control and Howard wouldn't dare criticize him. He had that Mad Dog guy do it.

6 months later, Artie was gone.

I just don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that they didn't give him some kind of a test. Just no way. Would you invest millions into a guy that's on drugs?! Of course not. So there must be something that reassures them he's not on drugs.

Artie was very negative when he was going through that shit and he was violent. The guy definitely has a mean streak and he's violent when he's on drugs... that's for sure.

I can't wait for his new book. I hope he sheds some light on that day and what preceded his stabbing.

Hes already said that the reason he made the small stab wounds (known as "tiny cutting") was because he wasn't trying to kill himself, but intensify his high via "controlled blood loss"
it's all bullshit of course, as most suicidal people engage in "tiny cutting" as a cry for help/attention. This would explain him doing it right before he
knew his mom would arrive and find him..

I'm the biggest Artie defender you'll find, but I don't think he's being straight with us about the suicide attempt at all. If you read some of the news reports that came out at the time, they were described as major stab wounds that went fairly deep into his gut. Minor cutting is like what teenage girls or middle aged houewives do, where they just barely break the skin. I think Artie probably did know subconsciously his mom was coming, but had she gotten stuck in traffic or staid too long at the store, whatever, we very well could have read his obituary. I really don't care if he owns up to wanting to die or not, but he has to know no one believes that it was small cutting since he buried a steak knife in his gut.
