Don't you need like an 8 gauge to shoot a bear?

Mario is not a bear.

Hunting bear seems crazy to me. I'm prob a pussy but I don't want to hunt something that's going to hunt me back. If you go, take a rifle that shoots a big bullet and make the first shot count.

Always stay downwind and downhill....or it may hunt you
They cant run downhill well, they tumble...so if you need to run bear this in mind![]()
Ill take you in VA but you'd need your license and a bear stamp. I hunt private land but for bear don't have any so it's state property and that even more stringent so you need your state/forest non-resident license. The firearms season for bear is limited. I don't think any of the bear seasons (muzzleloader, archery, rifle) are earlier than late October and end in like early early Janury. If its your first time and you aren't experienced archery or black powder, you're definitely gonna need to hunt during firearms season which may only be part of December. Honestly, your best bet is to get a few buddies and get a guide that takes care of everything.

That's a myth...a common one but a myth. Bears absolutely can run downhill and on flat land will outrun a person.you have a slightly better chance downhill than on even ground but really you're fucked either way. Stand your ground and make noise and make yourself appear large as possible .

License and tag prices are reasonable for non resident brown bear, about $700.00 combined. Kicker is you have to hire a guide for grizzlies if you're a non resident.......that gets expensive
