Groundbreaking album. Sabbath started an entire genre of dark evil music with the release of this album on Friday the 13, 1970. This is the only record that was so jarringly evil & bizarre that it actually gave me nightmares after listening to it. No other music ever caused the same reaction in me. They are the true masters of metal.

I was about 9 or 10 and I heard AC/DC Highway To Hell. It has been a down hill slide ever since then. Now I look back and AC/DC is like a bedtime lullabye.

The Exorcist movie and The Amityville Horror movie helped too.

As embarrasing as it is, my introduction into hard rock/metal was KISS. However, Black Sabbath's Paranoid/Heaven and Hell sealed the deal for me. RIP DIO

I was lucky enough to see them when they came around in 2007 under the name Heaven and Hell. I was born in '83 so I never got a chance to see Sabbath during those early days . Also saw the original Sabbath at Ozzfest in 2004. They're supposed to tour soon again, only without Bill Ward.

I became a Stern fan before becoming a metal fan. I was in high school when mp3s were becoming popular, and my friends and I had all sorts of Stern show clips. Good times.

Way ahead of you . Stargazer is probably one of best songs ever.

Nowadays, Im more of a Power Metal/Thrash Metal person. Anthrax, Overkill, Kreator, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Primal Fear, etc. Lately, there are actually a lot of great newer bands, especially if you like Thrash Metal. Warbringer pretty much took over where Slayer left off in the early 90s. Cant beat Slayer though.

You should talk to Dlist, some of her best threads are a result of a drunkin' binge.
