i use a silent ring tone for that. I recorded a 30 seconds of silence aac and converted it to a ringtone. any numbers or people I don't want to hear from get the silent tone as their default ringtone. it works great.

You can use any mp3 or wav file for ringtones, just edit it and throw it in ringtone folder. If you want an app that has a shitload of ringtones and notification messages grab Zedge.

Also get the chrome browser. Don't use the factory one.

And download an app called voxer. It's a walkie talkie on your phone. It's fun.
