I think most, particularly those of us who have served our country/ community as military, police, fire, are familiar with the four life saving steps; start the breathing, stop the bleeding, protect the wound, treat for shock - a basic, easy to remember mantra that sticks with you in the most chaotic of situations.

Now, the DHS has a new mantra that all Americans should learn; RUN, HIDE, SCISSORS. If you can't run, hide, if you can't hide, and all else fails, attack the armed lunatic with a pair of scissors.
