When I was a pizza delivery guy, I'd dread seeing IS (Italian Sausage) on the ticket, because it meant I was delivering to a "Canadian" and I wasn't going to get a tip. That, and italian sausage smells like Alpo and it stunk up my car. But mostly because of great chance of no tip. If it was a Bigfoot pizza with italian sausage, I was doomed. I asked a black friend, during a drunken "ask me anything about white/black people" conversation, why black folks were more likely to not tip than white people. He said, "Why should I tip?" I explained that tipping allows restaurants to pay their servers less, which in turn keeps the price of your meal lower, and he replied, "But if I tip, the price of my meal becomes higher anyway." My second was a waitress at a very upscale riverfront restaurant in Memphis. She and all of the wait staff would tell you in a flat second that Blaecks don't tip........Sometimes tables of over a dozen and nada.........

I do not feel there should be an automatic gratuity put on my bills. I tend to over tip in general (especially restaurant staff it is very tiresome work). I feel you should tip based on the degree of service.

It is like when you go to the hair salon and you end up tipping 5 different people just because they touched your hair for a minute (ok this is a female issue let me get back on topic).

Working in the service industry you will sometimes encounter cheap, rude and inconsiderate people. It just goes with the job. While I am sure it was momentarily gratifying to make the bill public it wasn't worth losing your job over. Don't worry people like the pastor will get whats coming to them eventually. Hasn't the pastor ever heard the term God don't like ugly!

One person drapes you with a cloth and brushes your hair gets you a beverage, then the stylist (I usually go to a owner who really should receive no gratuity (but I still tip) consults with me. Then he has his assistant help with holding the foils for the hi-lights then they have somone else shampoo you, then they have someone put a hair color on, then owner will cut my hair and then have his assistant blow dry. By the time I leave I think I have shelled out 50 extra bucks in addition to the $200.
