    In "It's A Wonderful Life" he's the cranky guy yelling at George Bailey when George asks him what happened to his car that hit the tree. (Of course, the accident never happened because George had never been born per his wishes)

    Neat! I bet he was in a lot of stuff I've seen but never recognized him. The pics I saw while searching he almost always didn't resemble Fred Mertz somehow.

    I watch a lot of TCM and every time I see him in a movie I say "Hey there's Fred Mertz."

    After I Love Lucy, William Frawley went on to stardom as Bub in My Three Sons. Uncle Charley took over after Bub died.

    I didn't know that. I remember Uncle Charley, I was very very young, because he scared me....he was always pissed off.
