Too bad Menendez is a politician and can't sue over this.
mlaw, does he have any legal recourse in civil court over the lies or are the only remedies criminal (if laws were broken in making the claims [filing false reports, etc.])?
Obviously, truth, credibility and differing points of view has little to do with agendas:

Oh and the 21 trips, in 2 years, that he took on the scumbag Florida guy's private jet to the dominican republic....oh and the gubmint contracts he steered that guys way
Nothing to see here folks, move along![]()
Even though he's a public figure, if he can prove wanton and reckless conduct, and that the person who solicited the false claims he could have a civil case.
If he can prove the lawyer fabricated the whole thing to get the upper hand in a divorce, he could definitely get the lawyer in big trouble with is his Bar.

There's also "rumors" that the people or persons who started this were republicans but who the fuck knows how much stock (if any) should be put into that until something substantial comes out of it.
BTW, the FBI is still investigating Menendez on a separate issue, relating to peddling influence but again, no one knows if that investigation has any legs yet.
