Prior to the election it was -

- No to everything.
- No compromise to anything.
- Holding the country hostage on the debt ceiling.
- Non-stop filibusters. Measures that later got 90%+ approval were first filibustered for months.
- Endless fake outrage, each week crying wolf to some bullshit nonsense (usually complete hypocrisy)
- No solutions of our own other than the most extreme far-right extremist positions that have never had a prayer of being passed
- top priorities were to declare war against birth control, abortions, gays and Mexicans.

Goal was simple, might have even worked:

- hope for as much failure, misery and suffering as possible.
- hope that people blame Obama for it.


Whoops. That's didn't work out. Obama wins nicely. Many, many aspects of the country are headed in the right direction and people correctly believe that, other than obstruction, Republicans only offered two things to the process: jack and shit. And, the future, in terms of demographics, doesn't look good if you're the typical angry white Redstate Walmart voter.

So now what do we see?

- Compromise on the fiscal cliff.
- Compromise on the debt ceiling.
- Compromise on immigration reform.
- Attempts to replace their previous leaders like Palin and Karl Rove.
- Attempts to awaken the flock so as not to follow orders from Limbaugh and Hannity

He does have a point. He is not crying, just merely stating an observation. I, like many, was much more concerned about congress actually passing legislation and getting on track with a budget. A no compromise attitude on basically everything by a select few in congress is not what the founding fathers intended. I could have cared less whether Obama won or not, but the Republicans cared about that above all else and made the country worse for it. I saw this election as a referendum on no compromise republican BS and Tea party horseshit more than I saw it as a validation for Obama. Let's face it, a republican candidate could have probably won the election or at least made it a much closer margin if they just had a reasonable plan forward instead of the old tried and true tax cut with increased defense spending, oh and by the way no details on the tax plan. I think finally conservatives realize that they will never win again nationally if they are "too conservative". People like Rush and Hannity have always had their listeners convinced that the only time a republican looses is when he/she isn't conservative enough--that has to end if the party wants national solvency.

No, as the OP pointed out, you will see some change from the republicans over the next two years, maybe just enough to win back the senate(they've lost a total of 5 seats due to BS candidates). Unless our economic situation goes gangbusters, the Rs keep the house.

Well, the Obama made a specific campaign decision to campaign against Mitt's "severely conservative" comment and not against how liberal he was, or how many flip flops on important issues he had. They accepted the word of the 2012 Mitt Romney and it served them well. I don't watch Al sharpton, but 2006 Mitt Romney may have had a better chance of winning the election than 2012 Mitt Romney--he was forced to take a bunch of positions that he previously didn't support just to get the nomination. And If you were left on 11/07/12 thinking that Mitt Romney would have won if he were "more conservative" then you are still getting played.
