Having a wisdom tooth removed on Wednesday.

I haven't had to have any of my teeth pulled, until now. The dentist says it will take about 45 minutes.

What is the pain level after having a wisdom tooth pulled? The doctor could probably prescribe Vicodin for me, but I can't use that while I'm at work. Is it manageable pain, and how long until the pain goes away completely?

It's not too bad. Take a day off work, take the vicodin for that day, then go back to work the next day. You'll be fine.
    Ask me anything.

    Bottom.

Not impacted, the doctor said bacteria got in under the metal fillings in that tooth, which is causing the pain. It's easier to just remove the tooth because the filling was large to begin with, and it's done it's job for the last 30 years.

I can't afford to miss work, I can usually pick up an hour of OT every day. I'd have to use one of my personal days and get paid for 8 hours straight time

check with him, but if you are going back to work right after, maybe take 800 mg motrin RIGHT before, and ask for more anesthesia when it's over, marcaine is the longest lasting.

i don't know what you do, but NO exercise or heavy lifting.

    Minimal. Shit was no problem.

I got knocked out for it, and was all fucked up from that. Ask to be knocked out.

Why did you get knocked out?

The guy is saying he can't afford to even miss work. I doubt he's going to fork over the money to get knocked out.
    Ask me anything.

A little uncomfortable the day of the office visit (not real painful). I never took anything more than Aspirin afterwards ..... The day after, you're back to normal ....Bring an IPOD with you, though

If you work a desk job, you'll be fine to go back to work afterwards (as long as you don't have to talk)... If you're blue collar, I'd take the rest of the day off

Cuz they took all four. Only time I have ever been knocked out.

Complete and total oblivion. And I was in good shape the following day.

I had all four of mine done at once and got knocked out like a bitch. Was eating normally the next day and only took my pain meds the night of the procedure.....pain after was a non-issue. I imagine it depends on how much work they gotta do and the amount of trauma they cause in your mouth. Good luck!

It is no biggie. Just don't screw up like I did and try to eat regular food before you're healed up.

Ask them to give you morphine. It'll make the experience pleasant.
My name was supposed to be French fries with mayo but I was drunk when I signed up.

You can also just call me "Dick".

It's being done at 5:00 in the afternoon, won't have to be back at work until 7:00 Thursday morning. From what I have read, it doesn't seem like the pain will be too bad. Can't be much worse than it is now.

They offered to pull all four at once, but there's only one giving me trouble, and it would have cost me an extra $400. So I politely declined.
