I went fishing for halibut in alaska. When I brought the monster into the boat the captain clubbed it on the head until it stopped flopping and then filleted the thing while throwing body parts to the trailing seagulls. That was a great time.

did anyone see that Bizarre Foods where he went to that NYC sushi place where they would cut the lobsters in half so the lobsters would have to watch you eat it before it died? Asians are fucking nuts.

That place is called Jewel Bako. It's in my neighborhood and quite expensive. Look it up it's interesting.

As far as lobster this book is a fun quick read. Many interesting essays.

I totally agree - - I've never gotten the whole lobster obsession... to me, it's like an overcooked, oversized, tough shrimp with less flavor. Most of the flavor is the butter you have to dip it in, to me...

Howard and Beth's pescatarian (sp?) lifestyle is, in itself, a joke. Anyone who knows anything about sustainable seafood knows that eating only fish is not environmentally sound. Over fishing and the high levels of mercury in the ocean are taking its toll on seafood. The list of fish that should not be eaten due to over fishing and mercury poison is helluva lot longer than the list of sustainable fish. It would be better for the environment and for fish in general if he and Beth would eat some other form of protein...and if you're so concerned about the way animals are slaughtered for food, then you have to go all the way with this and NOT wear leather or buy leather products. This is why Howard and Beth are phonies...when he gives up his leather coats and she gives up her Chanel bags and Jimmy Choo heels then they will have some authenticity in their meat free lifestyle.

Try dungeness crab. Fuckers taste almost identical to Maine lobsters. I was ever so happy to discover those tasty morsels. Much cheaper than Maine Lobster down here.
