I liked when Howard casually mentioned that he was going to write a blog post for howardstern.com yesterday, but there was some kind of technical problem. As if this was a normal thing for him to do. For the past six years at Sirius, he's proudly avoided putting any effort into his the show outside of sitting in the studio for the required hours -- no talking to his own news team, no sitting in on other shows on his channels (or even listening to other shows on his channels, unless he's getting paid to do it on air), no broadcasting from home using the hardware Sirius provided, and definitely no Friday writing meetings. Now he's "notebook full of ideas" Howard from 2005 again, trying to sell everyone on how hard he works on his Sirius channels. And now Fred and Robin are even participating in prerecorded bits. It's all very strange. Yesterday Howard claimed he didn't need to work, but he does because "he digs it."
Have you noticed all the jingles and tunes for their lame bits they have been producing lately?
I remember at some point in the late 90's, they had this idea to be like a normal morning zoo and break the show into segments, separating them with a jingle or some sort of annoying sound collage. I wanted to throw my radio out the window. It only lasted a few weeks, I can't imagine who thought it would be a good idea. Probably came from a Stern brainstorming session, along with the annoying "Stolen Vehicle Police Recovery Network" bit.
