If they offer you, for a little extra money, for a "touch-up," should your vision slip, take it.

My vision slipped. I was 20/20 for about three years.

    Now I'm 20/25 - 20/30.
got it done a year ago and took the insurance for a redo, if needed. went from being legally blind to now 20/15. best thing i ever did for myself. although i do have to wear reading glasses for up close. had a choice: do one eye for nearsightedness and the other for farsightedness...no reading glasses. my job involves a lot of reading, so i elected to go with reading glasses to avoid eye strain. no regrets.

should add that prior to surgery had no issues with seeing up close...now i can see nothing up close as far as reading...but still worth the trade-off.

I've worn glasses/contacts (near-sighted) since Jr. High, and I'm 48 now. My last check up about 6 months ago verified that my near vision is starting to go, too, so at this point I'd not mind if I only had to wear glasses for reading. If and when I get a chunk of disposable cash, I REALLY want Lasik; glasses are a phenomenal pain in the ass, and without them, I can't even see the clock on my nightstand 2 feet from my head. I gotta admit, though, I am not bothered much by surgical procedures and a little pain, but if they're gonna be fucking with my eyeballs, I think I'd need to be comatose, or else I'd be going full-retard-on-PCP spastic.....

Dude, do you have flexible spending at your job? I think you can put aside up to $2,500/year doing that and most healthcare plans have a lasik center that will accept your insurance and believe it or not, most places will do it for about that price.

That's how I did it. The cost came out of my check each pay period. Something like $48 pay period and it's pretax dollars to it's better to pay it that way than with a credit card.
