Miami's kings of the hardcourt will get a chance to mingle with the leader of the free world as the Miami Heat pay a visit to President Barack Obama at the White House Monday.


LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and the rest of the team will be honored by Obama for their 2012 NBA Championship at the 1:30 p.m. ceremony.


Obama will also "recognize the Heat’s ongoing support to the men and women who serve in our military and their families, continuing the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring sports teams for their efforts on and off the court," the White House said in a statement.


The Heat are also expected to meet with some wounded warriors during their trip to Washington, the White House said.


Obama called head coach Erik Spoelstra following the Heat's win over the Oklahoma Thunder to clinch the championship,

Today at a White House event celebrating the NBA national champions the Miami Heat, President Barack Obama praised stars on the basketball team for taking "their roles as fathers seriously."


"There’s a lot of focus on what happens on the court, but what’s also important is what happens off the court," said Obama. "And I don't know all these guys, but I do know LeBron and Dwayne and Chris. And one of the things I’m proudest of is that they take their roles as fathers seriously. And for all the young men out there who are looking up to them all the time, for them to see somebody who cares about their kids and is there for them day in and day out, that's a good message to send. It’s a positive message to send, and we’re very proud of them for that."
