pay no attention. some people don't realize that no one "recovers" immediately from operations.
My brother had a heart operation a year ago and while he's doing fine he still feels odd sensation in his sternum and the doc told him not to lift anything for months.

my mother had an operation several years ago and it took about a year for her to feel normal. She broke her hip this summer and I can see how well she is doing but it just takes time.
