I agree it was the response to the sleeping incident that made me dislike Booey but I think Gary went after DePace (after all it was his boss Goodstein who went to Howard with the tape) because he felt DePace was universally hated because he's a conservative. A slight difference from your point.

Around the same time of the debut of TWUS, the Booey ball busting completely stopped (it has only recently returned - in a watered down form with only Howard, and to a very limited extent, Fred, allowed to bust on Gary), and Sal (who was one of the greatest Ma Ma Monkey ball busters, IMHO) was muted. That was the beginning of my hatred of Gary for sure. That, and "what do you do for a living?"

Gary used to be my favorite member on the Stern show staff. He always appeared to be humble, grounded and a regular guy. He got dumped on a lot by Howard, Robin, Fred and Jackie through the years. Sometimes he deserved it, a lot of times he didn't, but he took the abuse with dignity, so I always gave him props. It wasn't until the Sirus years that he turned into just another elitest douchebag.
