NEW ORLEANS - A U.S. Secret Service dog fell to its death while working to protect Vice President Joe Biden during a visit to New Orleans. The dog was working in the Premier Parking garage in the 900 block of Iberville Street near the Ritz-Carlton Hotel at 6 p.m. Saturday night, when New Orleans Police confirm it fell off the roof.
Federal Agents and Police rushed the black and brown Belgian shepherd to a Metairie Veterinary hospital via motorcade to try and help the injured animal, but veterinarians were unable to revive the dog. The Secret Service dog and its handler were working security for the Vice President's visit.
Biden spoke at a fundraiser for the re-election campaign for U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, D-La.
