aside from the skull there is also the blood brain barrier which most drugs cannot pass either. It's what keeps certain brain cancers safe. The killing agent can't pass the barrier to reach the tumor. Skin popping just allows for a small amount to be placed under the skin so it can be absorded into the blood stream. Snorting would be just as easy for art. By the looks in those gifs though he was main lining it. He'd have been having nose bleeds by then if he snorted that much daily.
