On regular radio? If he went back to regular FM/AM radio, would he still be better than anything else on there? I haven't listened to regular radio in a very long time (got sirius in 2005) so i have no idea.
Any opinions?

In my area of the country...he'd be spilling the audience with O&A
Life would be great if I didn't have to deal with the difficult people.

I get more laughs from one segment of Artie's fucked up show, than I did from weeks of wiggys output between 2009-11.
So I think it's fair to say that unless the show became fantastic after I stopped listening in March 2011, his show isnt even
the best thing on Howard 101.
There are many political oriented and sports shows that are heads and tails above the 2013 Howard Stern Show but I'm guessing you mean entertainment type shows and I go to podcasts to fill that need. Imus puts out a show on terrestrial, that may not get you laughing, but he does present an entertaining show of competing voices and current intelligent guests - the listener might learn something without being bombarded by someone with the taste of a 15 year old suburban girl.
On 93.3 WMMR here (Philly) the Preston & Steve show is good.
i just listen to the Sinatra channel whenever im in the car. i get my comedy fix here laughing at wiggy and wonky.
Spare a kidney?
RIP Bro-
Here in Tampa one of our local rock stations went to all talk. I'd say he couldn't even compete with the shows on that station in his current state.
But with ratings being on the line and his quickly dissolving marriage who knows? the old queen might get motivated and angry enough to actually put some effort into the show again. I can't imagine with his ego he'd be content to sit around and get shit stomped buy some of the younger guys.
I'd listen to him over any of the morning zoos in my area, but he can't compete with sports radio and O&A.
I should be more specific. I meant morning time shows/talk. Like what he was competing against when he was on K-rock

I live in Milwaukee, so we never had a Howard affiliate in the area during his FM years. We had Mancow, and for the summers I'd work 5am-1pm at a golf course, I have to admit I enjoyed the show. This was 2000-2001.
if you want a good laugh, check out where Mancow is currently being carried. he used to be a pretty big deal in the Midwest.

In San Diego their is the DSC show "dave, shelly and Chainsaw" I like it, it's a lot better than what Howard puts out, I quit my subscription to sirius last month.
Only listen to podcasts, MP3s, and Pandora. Terrestrial radio has waaaaay to many commercials to hold my interest.
I still listen out of habit. There is probably better out there however.

Absolutely. LOVE, love, love Terry Gross and Ira Glass. Did you here the 'Wait..wait...' when they interviewed Bill Clinton about My Little Ponys and talked about bronys? That is some funny shit right there.

DSC (formerly the KGB Morning Zoo) and Jeff and Jer dominated English language radio here before Howard, during Howard and after Howard. Jeff and Jer have always sucked but their show was very family friendly so it got the moms driving kids to school and DSC got the rest. Even with his claims of being #1 in every city he entered Howard never beat those shows in even one ratings book. He usually came in 4th, 8th or 9th if AM and Latino stations were included.
I don't know who is #1 here any more but it seems the younger people tend to listen to more urban/dance music stations so those shows probably are up there. Under 30's don't seem to be much interested in the old style talk morning shows, they seem to be more interested in the Ryan Seacrest type shit that mixes pop culture with top 20 music.
