this one guy had the norovirus. had to shit every five minutes for a week and a half. he kept saying, "it's not contagious through respiratory contact, only if you touch something that has norovirus on it. just wash your hands an you'll be fine."

Was at Disney once in a dining area and this parent sitting next to us is feeling her kid's forehead and asking if they need a bag to throw up in. we don't get the option of staying out when we're sick anymore. we get 8 sick days a year that don't accrue if we don't use them. if we need to stay out longer we have to use our vacation time. Everyone comes in sick now as long as they are not coughing up blood. Everyone gets the flu if they don't get vaccinated (company gives us the vaccine for free). now no one stays out unless they are forced to by medical (like if they have raging TB).

as much as i hate to admit it, you do have a good point. thank god for the anti-unionists among us who whole heartedly support the dismantling of workplace protections in the name of profit for share holders and execs.
