So my boss's mom who's in her 80's broke a cookie cutter that her mom gave her when she was younger, it came apart where it was soldered together.
Attempts to have the local mechanic fix it proved fatal:
So, I was asked if we could make a new one. She didn't like any of the ones they bought her because this one was the perfect size for some reason, which only she knows why.
Anyhoo, I measured it carefully and drew it up on the computer machine and toolpathed it on the cad-cam:
Then I machined it out of a stainless steel bar we had laying around. The old one is on the left, the new one is on the right:
Then it was over to the band saw where I freed the little guy from the base he was machined on:
Next he goes to the belt sander to smooth out the saw marks on the back:
Now over to the buffing wheel for a little radiusing around the outside where her hand will push on it:
A little fine tuning with my chinese made swiss files:
