    What made Wiggy so soft?

I don't believe that just therapy could do this to him. Maybe he's trying to make peace with his God. He's too old to be trying to do the Late Night Show gig, Wiggy is 59 Jay Leno is 62,and David Letterman is 65 unless he's gonna ride it out til he's so hideous that they won't allow him on camera anymore which isn't too far from where he's at now. We can all agree that this is their last go around on the Sirius deal and Malone I have a feeling that is going to make these last few years very uncomfortable for the Stern compound so what is the King of all Pelicans next move, and why the pc version of the show that we used to love?

Him and Beth wanting to be liked by Hollywood types. I'd guess his daughters have exerted some PC influence as well.

    1) Howard has commented in the past about how uncomfortable he became when at numerous Hamptons parties there were always a few guests who would come up and chastise him for some of "the mean and crazy comments" he made on the air.

    2) Beth wants to be friends with celebrities

    3) Howard wants to be america's judge

    4) Based on Howard's descriptions, his daughters (at least the 2 eldest) appear to be the ultra liberal, politcally correct feminist type. Basically the type of people that love that Lena dunham girl and hate everything about 90s Howard. They obviously want nothing to do with him and Howard seems to think going soft and becoming a gay activist is a way to get back in good graces with them (Nevermind the fact that their chief reason for hating him is the divorce and Beth). Reason number 4 however is far down the list compared to the first 3

It's too bad real showbiz ever cracked open the door for Howie in the mid-90s, he was much more interesting when he though he would always be an outsider.

The current Howard Stern is the real guy. The entertaining Howard Stern of the past was his character.

He has turned Beth into a literal Goddess, and all his actions revolve around the idea of currying her favor.

That's it. It's nothing more than this; that's the reason for the photography, the red carpet star-fucking, the AGT sell-out....................everything. He'd MUCH rather be napping at home, counting his marbles, and registering various complaints than trying to finagle Mexican invites to New Years Eve parties.

If he was a really nice human being he'd be nice to his daughters first, wouldn't he?

If he was a genuine human being he'd have genuine friends, wouldn't he?

No............for some reason he's tied everything into that sham-whore of a wife, and the way she goes he goes.

    And she's going nowhere.

Three college-age or beyond daughters, Beth, age, and all the money he needs to ensure the comfort of his wife, daughters, and self for the rest of their natural lives.

He was making almost $30 million a year on average at K-Rock. I don't think it was the money. He fired Billy and Jackie. And then John and KC. And then left his wife after making a movie about how he'd never leave her. The show changed quite a bit when Jackie and John left. And Howard changed a lot after his wife and kids left him. It was a combination of several things.

Once he was his own boss at Sirius there was no one like Tom Chiusano to push him. He could work three or four days a week. Take tons of vacation. And surround himself with 'yes men' and lazily phone the show in without effort. Howard was just lazy and rushed into a contract and job that he clearly didn't have the energy for. Rather than retire or give Sirius back their money or instead pay someone to pass the torch to like Carolla or O&A he pocketed the money and scaled back his work.

Howard was making a killing at K-Rock well before Sirius was on his radar. It was the loss of too many cast members and the divorce that killed the show. Throw in three days a week with no third microphone and you have radio death.

Mostly the first one. Howard still thinks all the shit he used to spew but now he just keeps in inside hence the reason for therapy.

I'll bet Stern has always been soft in his personal life...He pushed the envelope when he needed ratings during the ter. days and people bought it. That's what's pissing some fans off, they feel fooled, duped and they're now embarrassed about it.

Some of us always knew Stern was a master salesman and although we don't think the show is very good anymore, we really don't give a shit about Howard the man (ie. his personal life) and never did. So they don't feel butt hurt like others.

it's a combination of appeasing Beth and her need to "not be famous" combined with his inner need to be part of the In-Crowd (A listers) so you can't rock boats as much as he used to. Then there's the guilt over his divorce, failure as a father/husband and the fact that his daughters are old enough that they can give him shit now... and he's an old man, wealthy beyond belief, has done it all, etc. ... there isn't anybody to fight with or out-do in the ratings. Oh and he's turning into Howard Hughes.

Having said that, this Malone issue is bringing quite the tenses to the show as of late, so maybe things will be interesting this year. But if it weren't for Jason leaking info on the air, we wouldn't know as much about it.
