A local court ruled that on the docks profanity is considered to be part of working language of the job. Because I am around it so much, it has been difficult for me not to bring the explitives home with me.

To an extent... It depends what context they're being used in. If I walk up to your wife or daughter, and call them a filthy cunt right in front of your face, chances are you're not going to maintain the same opinion .... In my profession, integrity is everything (real OR perceived)... Because we're often dealing with large amounts of money, if our customers even get a feint whiff of anything that's less than 100% integrity, then they're walking out the door and taking their business with them .... I had a couple walk out on one of my employees once because he referred to them as "folks" while he was greeting them ... People can be real touchy at times

I think most people will still view profanity as a common mans lingo .... People that we do business with in my line of work expect excellence, not commoners... Once they've lost faith in your level of professionalism, they're gone... And, you'll never get them back..

I swear like a mother fucker on here but rarely swear in real life. I may say a damn or shit around the house once in a while. In my younger days, on one job, I was extremely embarrassed by my associates' language in public and it has stuck with me.

And, yes, I do hold an establishment responsible for their patron's behavior. They have a responsibility to provide a safe, non-threatening environment for their customers.
