    New low on the WUS: ad break less than 3 minutes in!!!!

    It's a 35-minute show that crowbars in TWO breaks. For some reason they let it go to 11:15 here and there, like they did today- so that was THREE ad breaks.

    It started at 10:30 and they went to a break at 10:33.

    What....the.....FUCK?????

    There must be a quota, and THSS "news" went on for over an hour so they HAD to stuff Cock Socks or Carbonite down our throats- I have no idea, I will NEVER listen to a split second of their shithead ads with the most annoying voiceover cocksuckers on the planet.

    He is correct. I have seen Jon pull off that "lets get a break out of the way" bit in the first 2 minutes numerous times. I know a little about radio ad sales. You basically have a block of spots to sell during the actual Stern Show. They are sold with the premise that they will be aired during the show for a certain amount of time, 15 seconds, 30, etc. They usually rarely state where they will air. That is why Howard crowbars the live reads into the news.

    As for the WUS they sell those ads for probably 20% of what it costs to air during the actual Stern Show. If they sell 10 different 30 second ads then Jon needs to fit them in regardless of the length of the show. If the show is tight he starts shoving them in during the first 2 minutes.

    The whole thing is total bullshit. Back in the day this concept was sold to us that it would be ad free. However, I understand that a 4 hour show requires quick meetings and bathroom breaks. I can accept that.

    Where they abuse the listeners is selling ads for the Wrap Up Show and every other 1 hour or less show. Furthermore, when they do replays why do we need to hear commercials? If I am listening to a replay on Sunday they don't need a bathroom break or meeting. Why should I have to pay for an ad for something I am already paying for that is being marketed as "ad free."

    I think the 2 ad breaks in 35 minutes is the thing that is so irritating- do they really think they have some kind of captive audience during the WUS?

    It just shows how desperate they are to monetize the sinking ship.

    I love bashing Howard and his lazy crew as much as anyone, but this is just silly.
    It's a radio show. Radio shows break for ads. When the WUS breaks depends on when the real show ends. Yeesh

    That being said, the live reads durring the news is BULLSHIT.
