He probably wasn't ever much of a "ladies man" ..so to deflect that fact, he fibbed about his exploits (forgetting that he's no longer a county boy, and that when you play football for such a popular team, anything you say will be reported in the press)...the guy clearly wasnt the sharpest tool in the shed to begin with

I just don't get why he didn't try to go to her when she was sick in the hospital or go to her funeral. That's kind of a loose end.
