I was in a pedestrian vs vehicle incident and had the full boat. Memories, the long bridge, and silent conversation with a dead cousin. Unfortunately I was comatose for a couple weeks, so I don't know if it happened immediately or at a later point. I also have had an out of body experience, but I don't do LSD any more.

The scene in Saving Private Ryan when the Tom Hank's character buys it was the most internally correct representation of the experience I know of. Things become hyper real and slow down. You realize people are speaking and moving but that you aren't there with them anymore. Your mind is dying along with your body.
