This report is also available as a PDF file. CAMBRIDGE September 20, 2010 - The Business Cycle Dating Committee of the National Bureau of Economic Research met yesterday by conference call. At its meeting, the committee determined that a trough in business activity occurred in the U.S. economy in June 2009. The trough marks the end of the recession that began in December 2007 and the beginning of an expansion. The recession lasted 18 months, which makes it the longest of any recession since World War II. Previously the longest postwar recessions were those of 1973-75 and 1981-82, both of which lasted 16 months.

The recession started in December, 2007. Go to the website of the National Bureau of Economic Research (www.nber.org) to see the complete history of America's recessions. What that history reveals is that before this last recession, since the Great Depression recessions in America have lasted an average of 10 months, with the longest previously lasting 16 months.
Worst recession or worst recovery. Because you posted worst recovery and then you quoted worst recession. And you can't blame Obama for the recession. You can blame the republican house for a slow recovery since they limited stimulus.

oh, sorry, worst recovery. i think even the carter/reagan recession was worse, and was solved quicker by slashing taxes, cutting capital gains taxes, and encouraging businesses to invest in capital.

of course, now we don't make many things with our hands anymore

So basically, what John is doing is what Paul Ryan did and virtually every Republican before them

"We will cut $10 TRILBILIXZION DOLLARS!"
    "Where?"
    "We will do it!"

    Brilliant.
