I love the fact that I was told recently in roll call to not chase anybody for anything. That way I avoid situations like this. Pretty soon simply handcuffing someone will get them a big check if they threaten to sue.

Here's my thought...the lady violated several rules....disregarded orders from cops.....They know they can load up the charges all they want and the prosecutor will plead most of them down...thus they feel the need to punish her

The whole god damned system is broken...and instead of giving out these huge lawsuits, holding the cops accountable would be more effective....anyway you slice it, there was no reason to hogtie that chick...NFW

She's a fucking stupid bitch who knew she was driving with a suspended licence and didn't want to stop. She should know you don't get out of the car, it created a problem and the cops don't know if it's some kind of ambush with someone hiding in the car waiting to gun them down. She should not get any money, just 3 meals a day in jail for a year. She just a fucking white N!66er who doesn't want to respect the law and wants to do what she wants. plus you can't tell she's pregnant. I think the judge is a moron and I hope the ruling is overturned. I hate aggressive cops, but I hate cunts who give them a hard time more.

Its the hemorrhaging of money from frivolous-lawsuit payouts that driving these policy changes .... Yet, most of the dumb public will never understand that the more they award undeserved compensatory damages in these frivolous lawsuits, the more police departments will be altering their polices (negatively) to counteract potential future litigation ....

I doubt if their reaction had anything to do with her charges getting knocked down later. Probably just amped up and her stupid reaction pushed his buttons somewhat. Just a guess.

I only watched the video until just after he took her to the ground. It was more aggressive than I would be but I don't feel that it was too over the top. Maybe I am a jaded POS? The city settling these lawsuits so easily contributes to the problem......I know it comes down to money for them and it's cheaper the way they handle it but I'd like them to tell people to go fuck themselves sometimes.

I agree with the system being broken. If you'd like me to be held accountable financially for these types of lawsuits that's fine. Guess exactly how much proactive police work I'll be willing to do if I know that I'll be sued every time I touch someone? You might say it will only apply if I'm excessive.....define excessive? I have to do "use of force" paperwork if I ask someone to put their hands behind their back and they don't so I have to pull their arms behind them to secure the cuffs (no drama, no wrestling). Someone could view that as excessive force eventually.

Fuck it.....it's what the public wants apparently.

    Sorry for the rant.

It has nothing to do with being union (I have some issues with my union BTW). It has to do with what George said about opening me up to lawsuits for doing my job and limiting my liability.

I was addressing you being so confident in mentioning a job slowdown because you are union and you know won't lose that job.
