    Chris Rock is overrated.

I like Bring The Pain. But, the way Howard goes on about it..."It's the funniest thing ever...Better than Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy in their prime..."

He likes Niggas vs. Black People. But, throw Tossed Salad in their too.

I have a theory about this, which is that Howard only likes really "loud" comics. He never got guys like Bill Hicks, Louis C.K., Mitch Hedberg, but he loves Kinison, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm the biggest Kinison fan you'll find, but for whatever reason that's the only comedy Howard really seems to like.

Rock's a funny, smart guy, but I can't stand his delivery. Screaming and repeating yourself isn't funny. Not to me, at least.

Also, it's sad to see him dumb himself down and ghetto up how he talks at times. It's unfortunate that he feels the need to do that.

I saw him in an indie film, 2 Days in NY. It was actually good. He was coherent.

I thought "Bigger & Blacker" was the one Howard loved? Or am I mixing them up? Where he's in that shiny gold-ish getup? Either way, he likes who he likes.. whatevuh.

howard rarely gives his real opinion of other entertainers.
what he says depends if he's friends with them or they can do something for him or not.
example: he used to say leno was one of the funniest comedians.

Chris Rock does suck a little bit. Not a lot. But enough.

What kind of Stern fan are you? Howard likes Bill Hicks. He knows that Bill was major friends with Sam Kinison. Howard was going to start having Bill as a regular guest starting in 1993. The only problem was that the first time Bill called into the show was to promote his last standup gig ever, and then the cancer overwhelmed him. Hicks would have been like Gilbert or Kinison for the Stern Show.

Hicks was also a loud comic. He got his scream from Kinison. Hicks biography is even called 'American Scream'. Howard read some of it on the air once during the Artie years on K-Rock.

The fact is that Chris Rock is not funny anymore. Gone are the days of Bring the Pain and Big Ass Jokes. He's now a Hollywood sellout looking to be the next Eddie Murphy. Let's hope he doesn't start fucking trannys at night. Chris Rock said that Tracy Morgan was wrong for using "fag" in his standup act. How much fucking lamer can you get? That's how far Rock has fallen.

    Best comedians of all time:

    1. Richard Pryor
    2. George Carlin
    3. Bill Hicks
    4. Eddie Murphy
    5. Sam Kinison
    6. Louis C.K.
    7. Chris Rock
    8. Eddie Izzard
    9. Shuli
    10. Jackie Marlowe

Okay, so I couldn't think of 9 and 10! Probably Rodney or Dave Chappelle? Lenny Bruce should be on there, but his material does not age well. Ground-breaking, though.

As far as I know, Howard only had Bill on the show once, like you said. But Bill had been a big name comedian well before that, and done a ton of Letterman appearances. And that was right before he died yes, and only to discuss Letterman, after which he kicked him off the phone and never had him on again even though he was dying. A few years ago they brought up Hicks criticizing Leno, and Howard acted like he barely remembered the guy, that's all.

Bring the Pain was a great hour ... but that was 16 years ago and Rock has never come close to being that funny again. He seems to have shot his entire comedic wad with that one show.

If he didn't have a delivery like George Jefferson would he be funny?

Which "hour" is he always talking about, "Bring the Pain"?

Ain't that the truth. Chris' persistent repeating of his setup line is fucking irritating. And I believe he does that the stretch out his material. A dick move since he is essentially fucking the audience out of they entry fees. Chris was funniest when he had the Chris Rock show. He had good writers back then and he was good at delivering their material. Ever since it has been a downhill slide.

    I put Carlin above Pryor.
