Sometimes I ask people that are retired what their typical day is like and they always say shit like, "well, I go get the paper, and then I go to the diner for breakfast, and then maybe I talk a walk if the weather is nice..." I'm always like, "oh man, that sounds so awesome." but in reality it sounds fucking meaningless and boring if ask me.

That's a path I'd love to take. I'm stuck now though. I have too much time invested where I am to walk away now. My pension literally goes up 500,000 the day I get 30 and I still get a lump sum option so I have to hang on.

She's got around 470K already and she's 38. I think you are assuming that this is a new thing for us. We both started our 401ks in our teens.

We've pulled back the reigns on our savings until everything with an interest rate is gone (other than what's left on our 1st) and then we'll have a lot more options open to us.

In your situation I'd rather clown around at walmart for the last few years than start my own. health benefits, deferred profit sharing etc. it's a doddle and you get to educate morons for the productivity factor.
