Never. Resumes should be updated, with old information deleted.

This be the key. If you are just sending it in to a job service or directly to a company cold, it will be electronically screened looking for the right keywords. If you have been invited to send in your resume and know that a human will be looking at it, one page is normal unless it is an exec position or is highly technical. Don't include dates on your resume. You will be screened out for being too young or old if that is the case.

By the way, unless you are highly skilled, sending one into monster.com or even directly to a company in response to a job opening is a fishing expedition at best. It's not who you know, it's who you blow.......

I just went through putting together a resume and working with several headhunters. Some of them sent me 'model' resumes. All of them were two pages long. It may also have to do with where you are in your career. If you are young, maybe one page-but I think two pages are acceptable if you have worked for awhile and can show progression in your career.

    I'm not an expert, jmho.

I always fill out the employment application form, that is usually enough for my places of employment

And I send them to my facebook page, twitter account and instagram.

It is for a regional management position with the company I am already employed by. Most of what is on my resumé is from this company.

I usually toss the ones that are more than one cover page & one resume page ... You've either had too many jobs, or you're a pompous anus-hole that likes to self-promote things that no one else cares about

two pages are fine if the first is a cover letter in which you use the preferred applicant/ required for role key words (for the scan) and walk them through how you match up to that. Second page list your most recent 2 or 3 roles and only the objectives, skills and accountabilities from each role that can be transferred to or leveraged in the role being applied for.

I can proof read if you like. My career path is the same (mostly with the same company, moving up from within).

While a resume is important, you are a known quantity within the firm. Much more important to know what the guy making the decision is looking for and sell to that. f they asked you to apply for it, obviously that is a very strong sign. If you are pushing for it, well...not so good.

I know that for sales oriented resumes, showing specific numbers is key, increased sales from 1.2MM to 2.8MM in a three year period. GM in area increased from 32% to 46%. Expanded customer base from 123 clients to 201 clients...over and over the headhunters stressed specific results in specific timeframes. I nly know about sales oriented resumes, so I don't know how that would apply to other fields.

And the truth is, it's the cover letter that most often gets your ass in the door for an interview.
