It's amazing how much a part of the show I felt back then - not that I ever called in or anything but I did feel like I was hanging out with a group of friends every morning - now it's watching strangers with no talent doing a bad imitation of the Howard Stern Show.

Howard's fans were probably just as vicious in the 80s or 90s, but back then they were on Howard's side. Many celebrities got killed by Howard's fans whenever he got into a feud with him. It was brutal.

The problem is Howard sold out his fans and most but the sycophants know it. Instead of being one of us like he was up until Beth and his B, C, and D list celebrity friends; he has become an obnoxious celebrity name dropper and star fucker who mails in his show insults his fans for not accepting his lame efforts and flaunts his millionaire lifestyle on his fans. Howard used to be the frustrated husband and father who railed against the Hollywood elite who provided mediocre entertainment for a buck. Now he is the same celebrity elite. So that viciousness has turned on him.

My guess is that as much as I love this site, there are hundreds of thousands of fans that love the show, and a few thousand that don`t like the show. Those that like or just tolerate it aren`t vocal, they just listen and no one ever hears from them, and those like the majority on Dawgs are more vocal. Its human nature for the complainers to make more noise than the rest.

Some of the shit is still the same, back in the 90's on Ivan's "Traveling Stern Message Board" or whatever it was called one of the frequent complaint topics was all the time off. Of course, we've gone from 8 weeks off then to 12 weeks plus Thursday-Friday off now. Howard hadn't entered the world of starfucking, elitist hypocrisy either so there wasn't as much ammunition for the posters.

I remember in the old days I coud not take all the 20 minute long commercial breaks. It really shows how good the show used to be when you'd wait through the endless breaks to hear the show.
