I don't think so, because telling the truth doesn't make up for anything or make the show better. If he says "Look, I'm a greedy douchebag who lied to you and my staff for years and became a total hypocrite, but I'll let you call in and bust my balls about it if you want" that still doesn't make the show good. I would listen to the ball busting calls, though.

Most of the old fans have been molded in Howard's image, or should I say in the image of Howard in his prime, when he openly criticized hypocrisy. Howard, on the other hand, has morphed into exactly the persona of the arrogant elitist assholes that he used to lampoon.

Howard can no longer relate to his fan base or perhaps he just no longer desires to. He has "evolved". He boasts about "pissing on his fans". Did he really expect his fans not to piss back on him? I think the fans took his abuse for a long time but the honeymoon is over.

Of course we are. Now, when we listen, we hear nothing but hypocrisy, PC bullshit, backpedaling, neutered wining, a war on anything funny and outright hostility towards the fans/subscribers.

We shit on Howard more these days because he's a scumbag asshole who turned his back on everything that made us fans in the first place.

Would the Howard of 2000 act like a bitch and ask for the fat, ugly hipster from "Girls" to do his show so he can apologize? Nope! Fuck him.

See, this is why I laugh when he criticizes Imus now. Imus shows up five days a week for 4 hours with cancer, but somehow he rips off his fans who choose to volunteer money for that cancer charity (which is different from NSAL...how?). Howard has become worse than Imus could have imagined being.

Remember him complaining that he was being forced to put out a substandard show at KROQ. Things were going to be so much better after we financed his revolution.

Another thing, I will never use the phrase "terrestrial radio" again.

The fans have always been viscous. Think back to the old faxes Howard would read. The calls he would take ripping him or whoever was in the cross hairs at the time. Now he's too insulated. He can't take the chance of agreeing with a fan, that might fly in the face of Hollywood's sensibility. He uses the fans to set up his agenda though, which when you think about it, he always has.

well said, plus he is surrounded by people who only say yes to him and tell him how wonderful he is each day because he has so much money and power that that money brings.

Not really. The alt.fan.howard-stern group was never censored. And people loved the show. Back in the Billy and Jackie era it was almost always positive comments. People couldn't wait to talk about OJ's murder trial, Howard running for governor, the bridge suicide jumper, the Jackie Puppet, and so on. People used to trade cassette tapes and VHS tapes of the show all of the time. I have boxes of listener made 'best of' cassette tapes.

Now look at the show. No comedian in the studio. No callers. Howard works only three days a week. Takes excessive vacations on top of that. Cares more about being part of the Hollywood establishment than putting on good radio. Cares more about AGT than Sirius. Is suing Sirius and putting on a terrible show at the expense of the listeners. Refusing to do anymore roasts or live specials. Refuses to put anyone of professional talent on the channels besides Jackie. Wouldn't hire Adam Carolla when Adam pitched his podcast for H100.

The show sucks now. It is terrible. Period. Howard does not care about his legacy. He should retire and leave H100 has a channel to do nothing but Kinison, Jackie, and Billy West style spotlight shows. Or specials like "Fight Week" or "Dracula Gilbert introduces the Wack Pack". Stuff like that.

Unless Howard has some insane dramatic transformation most of the complaining about the show is justified.

The real losers on this site are the ones who obsess over Howard's family and his daughters. Or the ones who wish cancer on Robin. And so on. They seem to project their own insecurities and shortcomings in life on others. So in order to boost their self esteem they lash out at celebrities in order to validate their own meaningless existences. Yeah....you're really showing Howard. I'm sure he's terrified that some internet nobody thinks his daughter is ugly when he's busy bowling in his gigantic mansion.

The show sucks now. I don't care about Howard's personal life unless he brings it up on the air like when he rapes my eardrums by bringing Beth into the studio. As long as Beth isn't in the studio or using Howard's name to get on talks shows I wouldn't care who she is. Complain about the show all you want. Complain about Beth as well because she is clearly obsessed with being famous at all costs.
