They don't have anything beyond tonight's show, but I'm guessing they will.

Maybe they'll make a subforum for retarded Nick fans so you'll have some place to call home.

Could not agree more! I could never get into a segment on the show because you KNEW that anytime Nick was going to say-"We gotta go to break.". In listening to last night's show and tonight's I now am CONVINCED that Nick only did that to stomp on Artie because Artie was being funny at the time and Nick wasn't. The telling moment for me to make this even more real to me was the final show Nick was on where he yelled at Artie during the Football Picks fiasco and said-"Can I ever get a word in edge wise!".

Yeah it was a blend of sports and comedy and then Politics which was NOT supposed to be part of the show. There was nothing Nick said that was funny when pertaining to politics. Nothing.

Some of those "confrontations" with Brian Jones where down right uncomfortable. That makes great radio when the host can be percieved and being vindictively racist to an expert guest who was respected enough to get his own radio show on CBS.

Longtime Artie fan here that likes Nick too. I do agree with most here though that the show will be better without him

I'm really hoping Stover is just filling in and not permanently hired. I've seen most if not all his appearances with Nick and Artie. He brings no personality at all and is basically just there watching the show. He stayed out of Artie's way last night which was fine but I would rather have someone there that can get Artie cackling. I feel he'd be just dragging Brent's carcus along for the ride.

Haven't heard tonight's show yet...but heard the first 2 hours of last nights. This guy they have sitting with Artie has zero personality. I think he spoke like twice in the time I listened. I hope he's not permanent and they can get someone who can talk and is not afraid to have a conversation...and maybe someone who can crack a joke or just has a good sense of humor. Because I love Artie, but it was a little too much Artie. Hope they get it figured out.

But I was still surprised at how good the first Artie show was.

I'm wondering if the first two call-in guests were great because they were great, or because Artie was able to conduct the interviews by himself.........................

    Time will tell.

Roeper was fantastic, and it was a very timely call with all the Golden Globes stuff to goof on.

Trevor Pryce was a good call, too. I'd love to trade Brian Jones for him. Pryce actually said things, and rolled with the punches. Good get by that Stove dude. I hope Pryce becomes a regular caller.

Great call-in by Rod, and two great phony phone-calls! I like how Steve's finally "getting wise" to him, and how Francesca has fucking had it with him!

The main thing that was proven with last night's show is that Artie can be the star of a show. He's got an ear for interesting and funny, and he's a great interviewer. He knows where to go with things, and because the show is on such a tight schedule, he immediately goes there.

And to not have that Nick-roadblock in the way is beyond awesome; not only does Artie not have to crowbar in a funny line or interesting question for a guest; he can actually follow up those lines and questions!

I still can't believe I'll never have to hear about that jerkoff's playing days at Maine again. It's like a dream.

It was also great for Artie to be able to freely talk about his time on the Stern show without a butt-hurt Nick going pre-menstrual and derailing any interesting conversation about it.

AND no more of those douchebag "co"-talk show appearances where Artie's riffing and grooving, and old man DiPaolo hikes up his pants, jabs his keys in his hairy ear, and says something grumpy and unfunny.

I didn't mind the Stover dude. He seemed fine. I wouldn't hire him permanently though, just so he doesn't get comfortable and complacent.

It's been said by mpa and somebody else too, I think, but Nick fucked up a really, really easy gig. Artie's self-destructive impulses pale in comparison to Nick's.
    Goodnight, unfunnyman!

All we need is for Artie to stay clean........................enough.
    +reps

Great thread, I like your perspective I pretty much feel the same way. I really liked last night's Artie-only show, even though I thought I liked Nick when he was on the show. I think the show will be fine. Just like you said, if Artie stays clean (enough) to show up, I'll continue to watch. Artie has a better idea of what's funny (like Bocchetti, lol). Plus I think Artie is better with the fans and phone calls than nick was. He's more genuine and less bitchy towards callers. Enjoys Rod's prank calls a lot, stuff that I also enjoy as a fan.

I wouldn't mind the Twins being fired and replaced with Adrienne. Can you imagine the on air dynamic of that (Artie did say a relationship isn't serious unless they've had you arrested twice!)?

Listening to tonights show...I'm liking it a lot better than last night. Artie sounds more comfortable, or maybe I'm just more comfortable hearing him in control of the show. Also, the guy they have in tonight is much better than the stiff that was on Monday. At least Artie is having some convo with this guy and he jumps in a little bit. I guess this will work out okay.

The only real problem Artie has (besides drugs) is the inability to figure out when to stop certain bits that only he finds funny. Right before the holidays they had Brock do a Christmas song in the Andre voice and it was interminable, and really unfunny. If you can't self-edit your comedy, the good bits get buried in a sea of shit, and then nobody cares to sift through it.

A little bit of Bochetti is plenty each show. Give him 20 minutes and you wish you had Nick back. He did have a good line today, though.

I agree with the Brock part. While his Andre The Giant imitation is pretty amazing (although I don't think he really had to do too much to change his real voice) they wore it the F out during his week there, and then AGAIN when they had him sing The 12 Days of Christmas dressed as Andre coming from LA. Speaking of Wrestling-to quote Gorilla Monsoon-They went to the Well one too many times with that one.

And the Twins reading of the Amy Pholer/Tina Fey monologue from the Golden Globes was zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I think when they went to break, they should have ended there. It's not that funny to me, to see Artie continually say to the Twins-"Stop, did you hear what you did wrong there?". Again, funny the first few times, but again-going to the well far too often. I know they need to fill three hours and I know it's all knew to them with just Artie, but they better be learning from these mistakes not repeating them because it will be the _________Show pretty soon. And don't get me wrong, I love Artie, but you are spot on about his inability to figure out when to stop certain bits. He wears them out.

I think one of the things Nick had a problem with was he was trying to have the show more structured and Artie would always get way off track and forget that they were on a time crunch and only have a certain amount of time with each guest etc. I never like how Nick would always seem to cut people off and go to commercial breaks rather quickly but after watching the show enough, it seemed like Artie rambling and getting off track contributed to that. I do agree that Artie does tend to 'wear out a joke' so to speak. Its funny the first few times but after you hear something so many times, it gets old and loses it impact. I like Artie but I think he's gonna struggle at first to shoulder the responsibility of hosting the show.

With all due respect to Nick........Arite is clearly a talent......no matter his weight, habits or sloppy overall appearance. That first show killed and Artie is a seamless story teller and can be a prick at other times .
Nick was always bitching about commercial breaks etc........loosen up.....give artie a more stern like format!
Artie simply cant be put in a cage BUT you cant let him run free!!' Haha...... Good job Grandma Capprio !!!!
    You rock!

ps......they should make the weeks shows available online!!
