Didn't like Nick's political talk? Sport stories sometime have to involve social and political commentary because they are a microcosm of life. ESPN understands this and has hit gold entwining the two.
However, Artie didn’t want to talk about anything like that. Shit he didn’t want to talk sports unless it was the Yankees and The Giants. Oh yea and the old stories we’ve heard a million times and “Stern …” this or that.

Nick got his cash for the rest of his contract I’m sure. He should be happy to get the money and run without having the embarrassment of this show going down in flames thanks to loser Lange’s drug problems. Artie is a big miserable fuck up with no real friends because he can't keep his shit together…period.

I agree with you Isobel but you can't deny that Artie excels on the radio. I don't think Artie is going to be able to hold things together long enough to carry this show. Even if he doesn't relapse he's so fat and out of shape he's going to get sick often and continue to miss shows. How many Artie Lange shows can there be without Artie?

I agree with a lot of this. Nick is the guy that brought their little hero back to the radio to begin with. They have this strange fascination with Artie, almost god-like. The fat fuck can do no wrong. You also mentioned Nick is educated and went to college. I agree with a lot of this myself. Don't get me wrong I'm a big fan of Artie, but Nick being the co-host was a big reason why I was so excited for this show. Nick as a stand up is on a different level than Artie, plain and simple. Artie is great on the radio, very funny on the radio, but I would never pay to see his stand up...I've made that mistake before. I enjoyed Nick' miserable shtick, he reminds me of my dad...and myself to a degree, I'm a cynical person.

People exaggerate the amount of political shit Nick spouted...at most it was a couple off the cuff remarks per night, or he'd rant for a minute or two. Can't handle that? Then don't fucking listen, skip it like everyone did with those faggot bands. Artie repeats the same fucking stories all the time, yet his worshippers on here ignore it like he's breaking some comedy threshold. And while Nick knew jack shit about sports...at least he tried and did some research before the show, Artie didn't even do that and all he had to watch sportscenter for couple hours a day while he stuffs his obese face. Hearing their sports talk was like nails on a fucking chalk board. I'm having a hard time getting into the show because of this also. Yes, I realize that he is under contract and it wouldn't have made any sense for him to also leave the show, but I can't shake the bad vibe I've been getting when listening the past two nights. His whole "serious" broadcaster thing seems like an act and is the total opposite from the way he's been doing the show for the past year. His interview with the black guy with the show on FX was telling. He was asking him questions about all the responsibility that goes with having your own show and how stressful it is. Pretty obvious from that line of questioning that he's feeling the pressure already, and it's only two days in. No, I'm not wishing that he fails.

I actually like Artie because i think there is a really brilliant, dark guy with a lot of pathos inside of him, who constantly battles the concept of manhood that his background thrust upon him. I remember listening to Artie break down that film about people jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge, and he sounded like a modern day Gene Siskel, but then he quickly realized he wasn't being the Jersey tough guy character and jumped out of it. I'd lay money right now that Artie could best Howard, Fred and Robin in an IQ test with no college background. I'm not uneducated, I have dual BAs in Engineering and Philosophy and completed 2 years of law school before dropping out. I also enjoyed watching MadTV and The Norm Show when I was in college, before I ever heard of Howard. Artie is flawed, so were Jim Morrison, Cobain, Shannon Hoone and Lane Staley, who were all heros of mine. This idea that Howard was some sort of intellectual powerhouse, and Artie degraded the show, is laughable.

This is a ridiculous reason. You think guys like Artie and Howard are 100% genuine when they're on the radio? They all put on for a SHOW. They're entertainers that will do what it takes or say anything to get people to listen. This is the crazy business of radio. Sometimes, you have to be scummy or ruthless to make it.
