This is going to be an interesting few weeks. They have to fine tune the show. A week is not enough to handle the transition from N&A to A.

Artie seemed a little apprehensive on last night's DirecTV. I hope this does not affect the east coast comic network that N&A used to tap (Colin, Dave, etc.). While I think the two comic guest hosts should be avoided, I would love these guys to visit the show more often.

I even liked Bob Levy on N&A (as long as Artie was busting ass on him). But do not ever give him a job on A.

Poor fat, bloated Artie and his private, personal pain.

    Stop Hitting Alert Gary!

First show was better than I thought it would be, I still wish Nick could've just stopped talking about how liberals were ruining the country for a few hours a day and do a good entertainment radio show. But all things considered, Artie did a decent job and I'll give the Artie Lange Show a chance for a while.

And something that sticks in my head is this, if firing Nick had been something decided on before 2013 they would've had more than enough time to transition to only Artie without taking a week off. Look at the website, it's literally just some basic text edits and a new graphic. It's pretty clear that Nick refused to take notes from the producers and be less anti-left, to do a sports/entertainment show and not a political show. And that just hit a breaking point over the holidays.

It's too bad, listening to Nick and Artie bicker was like watching Ali/Frazier.

Looking forward to hearing this new show develop.

And Bocchetti's estranged father went from his deathbed to a full recovery as soon as the new show was announced. Coincidence?

I remember one show early on where Nick went on a vicious anti-union rap saying all they do is ruin this country & take his money as dues. Artie became quite defensive and called him on it asking him, "Aren't you in SAG (Screen Actor's Guild)? Nick replied, "Yeah and they've never done nothing for me!" Artie replied, "Oh no? You don't get medical benefits?" Artie then stopped talking & gave Nick the silent treatment for approx 5-10 minutes of air time as Nick struggled to keep the one-sided show going all by himself. Artie made his point. Even though Nick never spoke ill about unions like that again, I think Artie the proud former Long-Shoreman & SAG member never forgot that. I think there was bad blood simmering since the beginning due to Nick's political views & constant desire to keep the show all sports.

If you listen to the 1st half hour again, when Artie starts talking to Bochetti - Artie says something like, and I'm paraphrasing here - "obviously, I have no say in who stays or goes"
So maybe, Artie did fight for Nick. We really don't know the full story.
My comments are based on my opinion only.

And yet during one of the DirectTV commercial breaks he was playing ping pong with Liz and told her, "Life ain't fair sweetheart, we'll bounce you outta here next" or something to that effect. Then he dismissed her by saying, "I got real guests to interview" and threw the paddle down on the table and walked away...

btw that comment Artie made to Brent about him not wanting to get fired during the NHL/black guys discussion was in relation to Brent's job on CBS. that is obviously more of a "toe the company line" kinda place.

What a great first show! I've waited a while for it but it was worth the wait.
The first hour especially was fuckin' gold!

    Great calls Rod!

Sorry, just saw that. Sadly, I am. Years ago, someone found the court records of her becoming a ward of the state (like what is probably going to happen to Big Foot) and she wasn't heard from again. If she is still alive, she's probably hanging out in a laughing academy right now.

1st Artie show was pretty good.

I like how it seems like a different show, one on radio and then the DirecTV show.

The Idea that Artie doesn't now how to run a show after being with Howard and seeing first hand how it's done is ridiculousness but his shows that maybe he picked up some of Howard's "motivational" tactics as well. This revelation you have provided sounds like he had something to do with Nick's termination and lets face it that is what it was. I wonder if Nick came back in and picked up his things like those RedSox headphones? Shit I've been there when I was a salaried contract employee and got canned (got 50% of the remainder of my salary too after some hemming and hawing...ok begging) but going back and collecting my things was humiliating than the hemming and hawing.

    Here's how I see it.

Artie hates Nick, Nick hates Artie.

I doubt Nick got fired. I imagine they proposed changes Like the name being changed to the Artie Lange and Nick Dipaolo show. Nick was possibly asked to take a back seat to Artie. Nick refused and left.

Artie isn't very upset about it. It is the fucking "Artie Lange show", who wouldn't want that.

After watching the final fight the two guys had this really was the right decision. For whatever reason Nick really resented Artie's fame and popularity,I love the guy but he made the right decision walking.

I wish Nick all the best in the future. He's a funny bastard and their is a hole in the show since he left, but man when things got tense they really got tense.
Reppin Nick and Artie since Day 1

    This may be somewhat true.
But I do know that Ken Kohl was involved with the ultimate decision making.

He was fired. I don't see how it could be any other way. He couldn't just walk out on a contract.
    He was surplus to requirements.
Now I kinda think he's taken a payout in order to stay quiet and do nothing until perhaps the end of the original contract.

I'm sure it was a lot of money, but perhaps he'd be better off to knock that back and be able to springboard into a similar job right away, and also talk about his firing.
I'm sure he has a mortgage though.

Captain Kirk-I have to say I've wanted to post that about Mike's Dad, but didn't because I felt like I'd be a jerk for saying that (I am not saying you are-not at all-because that crossed my mind more than once-especially when I was reminded that Mike HATED his father).

I had totally forgotten that Mike hated his father until someone reminded me, and then once I was reminded, and he all of a sudden went from his death bed to being OK it did make me wonder about the timing of that......

Yea, it was strange, most of his family stuff is what a scumbag his dad is, and then the 180. Poor Mikey is just too nice to deal with the business side of show biz.
