Howard is usually glad to receive any mentions of his show these days as the audience is probably sinking to new depths.

This has to be one of Howard's fastest evolutions - he's also trying to milk it for all it's worth, with a desperate plea for this woman to call into the show so he could explain himself (as if he couldn't do that privately in a call off the air).

My theory is that's it is all about Apatow. Apatow is the Executive Producer of "Girls". Apatow has produced blockbusters for Universal which is part of NBC Universal. Pretty sure NBC isn't thrilled with Howard lashing out at Apatow for the second time albeit indirectly. Bottom line - Apatow is a bigger earner. Hollywood loves him.

however, i will say this, his words WERE taken out of context a tiny bit. he did refer to her as a "little fat girl," which could mean he was referring to how young she looked... possibly. if she's really short, then maybe not-- i dunno, i haven't watched the show at all. but i think he would have said "short" instead of "little." to me, "little" means it's like he's looking at a "little girl" as he said, but he inserted the word "fat" there. i think he was referring to her age and it looking like "rape," as in statutory rape.

i'm tempted to watch the show now just to see how "good" it is. my feeling is it's just another "brave fat girl" in hollywood getting her 15 minutes of fame. remember camryn manhiem or whatever her name was? she was famous for a couple of years, then the fad was over. now it's been melissa mccarthy. that will fade too. then we had gabby siddobhe however you spell it... this girl isn't nearly as fat as the others, but since she's cubby AND naked, she'll be the next trend for a while, until hollywood finds an even more controversial unattractive woman to yap about.
