I am not trying to say I'm above anything. I've bought People magazine, I read the websites, I am as big of a yenta as anyone. I just personally find it more impressive when a celebrity can keep their privacy. I have more respect for them I guess.

I promise you, I could NOT care less. I'm a current events and Hollywood gossip reader as much as anybody. I read all the Lindsay Lohan arrest stories and giggle. I have to tell you, her little lesbian stint/experiment/whatever did nothing for me.

I meet 10 different people a day and their sexual habits are the last thing I worry about. Foster didn't fall into the trap, she avoided it. She's been "out" for YEARS. There are thousands of photos of her walking around town with her ex. They were a couple for ever and everyone knew it. She was "out" on her own terms is all. I believe her point of all that was why do I have to hold a press conference to be considered "out"?

It's just not that big of a deal.

When asked last night about Jodie Foster receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2013 Golden Globes, Mel Gibson did not mince words:

"You know, I love her," Gibson replied. "I thought it was great. I adore her. I kiss the ground she walks on."

Gibson was seated next to Foster throughout the ceremony, surrounded by Hollywood royalty he used to be considered a part of until he was involved in a series of embarrassing public incidents. In 2006, Gibson was pulled over for drunk driving and went on an anti-Semitic tirade. In 2010,audiotapes were leaked of him raging against ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, which eventually led to the actor pleading no contest to a domestic battery charge. (Gibson was sentenced to three years of probation and avoided jail time.) In the past year, there was the release of another tape of a ranting Gibson and a controversy over a video related to his 2006 DUI.

Through all the controversy, Foster's loyalty to Gibson has never wavered. She cast him as the lead in her 2011 film, "The Beaver," and stood by him through a rough press tour, even though his presence (and an odd premise) likely doomed the film at the box office. (The film's director and star did receive a standing ovation at Cannes.)

Why has Foster stood by Gibson through scandal after scandal? Their friendship dates back to 1994, when they starred together in "Maverick." I give her a pass on the privacy/outing issue. When you're 18 and some freak who's so obsessed with you because of a role you played in a movie as a pre-teen hooker decides the best way to win your love is to assassinate the President of the United States I think it's pretty understandable.

I totally agree with this. It's nobody's business what she does in her private life and it's not like she has been trying to hide it from the public view or anything, and if she did that's totally her business. For once a celebrity is trying to live a quiet life and she gets shit for it. There was no need to make a big production about coming out of the closet, she simply thanked the loved ones in her life like anyone else would.

The Pelican commented on Jodie Foster "coming out" last night at some award show. Apparently she said something about her personal life being personal, etc. She did say something like "loud and proud" and then said she's "single."

Howard thinks Jodie "needs" to come out. Howard thinks it's ridiculous when people like Anderson Cooper and Ricky Martin come out and nobody is surprised about it.

Here's the deal: I'm not a homosexual so the concept of "coming out" isn't one I've ever faced, but isn't whether someone comes out or stays in the closet their own deal?

Anyways, what the fuck business is it of Howard's to tell someone to come out?

I think some of them don't officially come out, no matter how famous they are and how widely known and discussed their closeted gayness is, because they still face the same issues non-famous people do with actually admitting it to and dealing with their parents and families.

And I also think some of them, more and more increasingly, are very cynical and calculating and saving their "coming out" as a silver bullet, a publicity stunt when their career is faltering or stagnant or they just need some attention.

They're like the equivalent of those porn stars who work the xxx adult industry for years saving their (on-camera) anal cherry and then finally giving it up when their career has plateaued and needs a spark.
