Shock jock Howard Stern and first wife Alison Berns divorced in 2001, after more than 20 years of marriage. A decade later, he opened up about the painful breakup of his marriage to Rolling Stone.

"[Getting a divorce] felt like such a failure," Stern told the magazine. "It's so complicated, and it's hard for me even to figure out at this point what went wrong and how things that were so good could go so bad. It's tough. I think I'll spend the rest of my life trying to analyze that."

Funny how Stern pretends the reasons for the divorce were complicated. He wanted a wife who would kiss his ass like any other paid member of the staff and who didn't know him when he was a desperate schlub.

My impression was that Alison called him on his diva bullshit...he then got a chick that was so desperate for $$$ and potential fame, that she knew she had to make it all about "him"...and she did, for many years...but oh, how the tide has turned
