I've followed Carolla's career since 1994.

I was listening to KROQ when Sports Guy Jimmy Kimmel was going to box the radio station's janitor Michael the Maintenance Man and Carolla called in to offer to train Kimmel.

I also listened the night he took over Loveline -- a gig he wouldn't have had if it weren't for me*.

(*Me and about 150 other KROQ listeners got the original Loveline host fired in 1993 -- long story -- which led to the hiring of Riki Rachtman, which led to Carolla replacing Rachtman.)


But Carolla doesn't have that mainstream thing that Kimmel's got going.

Kimmel is besties with Ellen, he's much respected by celebrities.

Carolla couldn't do that, which is why he isn't as successful.

Somebody define success for me? Adam Carolla is a multi-millionaire lives in a giant kick ass pad with a huge garage filled with his toys, he's married and has kids, has his own podcast with millions of listeners....still not seeing how that's not successful.
