I might as well throw M*A*S*H* out there, too (the movie; not the TV show), but really, there are too many great ones to pick just one. Stalingrad is supposed to be a really badass from the reviews I've read, and I want to see it. There was another one.....Enemy At The Gates....that was awesome too. Both those movies are about Russians versus Nazis in WWII, and that was really perhaps the most seriously fucked up fighting of WWII, but it gets glossed over in American history.
I'm gonna venture to say that WWII movies are the best, in general, because it was WORLD war. World WAR. Not a "protracted conflict" or a "police action" or a political misadventure...I guess the same could be said for many wars that happened before WWII, but not many after it..... Then again, VietNam was some seriously fucked up shit for the men actually out there fighting......And the helicopters were wicked.....
